Superblooming the Aftermath: A Tree Journey
Created by Dr Rosalind Watts | Music by Finn Petcher
This guided imagery journey draws on the natural processes of ecological succession to support healing from trauma — both personal and collective.
It was born during a time of recovery and reflection for Dr Watts, and offers a hopeful, embodied exploration of what comes after rupture. It is inspired by how ecosystems regenerate after fire — moving from scorched ground to a blooming, resilient forest.
You’ll be invited to:
Enter a forest that has been through fire
Merge with a “Veteran Tree” that has survived crisis
Witness the different stages of ecological succession
Meet allies such as mushrooms, ferns and post-fire flowers
Explore the metaphor of superblooming: how beauty and growth can arise from rupture
The journey can be used as a tool for personal healing, integration after psychedelic experiences, or shared in group workshops and therapeutic spaces. The emotional tone is gentle, hopeful, and grounding — but please note there is a trigger warning for those who have experienced fire trauma.
How to Use
We suggest you start by watching the short introductory film to set the scene and deepen your immersion. Then, find a quiet place, bring a journal or blanket if you like, and settle in for the audio journey.
You may like to return to the journey monthly. It will meet you differently each time.
Preparation
Create a cosy, safe space where you won’t be disturbed
Bring a journal or sketchpad for any reflections
Consider doing this as part of a seasonal ritual or monthly check-in
If you’re a facilitator, this can be used in circles, sessions, or workshops
We can learn so much from trees about what connectedness looks like and how powerful it is. We hope this journey helps you remember that you are connected to your own integrity, caring community, and the magnificent regenerative power of Nature.
How to Access the Superblooming Resources

Superblooming film and journey. This Tree Journey uses the metaphor of a scorched forest regenerating after fire to guide listeners through an embodied and creative process of healing, transformation, and reconnection with self, community, and nature.
We have two additional guided imagery journeys, which were initially used as preparation for psychedelic-assisted therapy - the Pearl Protocol Resources. You can subscribe to these on their own or purchase all of our tree journeys together as a bundle.
The Pearl Protocol was created by Dr Rosalind Watts and used as a tool for preparing participants for psychedelic therapy sessions in the Psilocybin for Depression trials at Imperial College, London. Get access to the Pearl Dive and Planing a Pearl as a Seed to prepare for and integrate experiences after a psychedelic experience.
The Pearl Protocol includes Planting a Pearl as a Seed, and Superblooming the aftermath, including the tree film and guided imagery journey. Superblooming the Aftermath uses the metaphor of a scorched forest regenerating after fire to guide listeners through an embodied and creative process of healing, transformation, and reconnection with self, community, and nature.
Dr Watts and her collaborators do not endorse the use of illegal substances. Illegal substances do not form part of this protocol.
